Any advice for how to get started jogging???

Ive never and i mean never been a jogger, but Im not working now and need to get back into shape. Ive no idea about what helps and what hurts when trying to build stamina. Im only 22 if that makes a difference. I know about proper footwear and hydration I get the basics. I smoked for almost 10 ( i started at 11) years so any advice on how to get my lungs not to feel like they are on fire would be nice. If your gunna be rude just dont answer please.Any advice for how to get started jogging???
Well since you said don't be rude, I'll be nice. First off, start slow. Don't burn yourself out the first time or you won't want to go out and do it again. I have no idea what kind of shape you're in, but if you have never jogged, I would stick to a short jog to start off. Pick out a nice one mile route anywhere. It can be around your neighborhood or a park, you get the idea. I think every other day is fine for any one. Change your route up so you don't get bored. With time increase your trip distance and if you get into it, you can time yourself and try to beat past times. What helps is the continued desire to be healthy. What hurts, is worth it to feel healthy. Being 22 there really isn't much you can hurt while jogging, unless you have some preexisting condition. You might be a little sore your first week, but it goes away. Oh by the way, if you haven't quit smoking already, you probably already know that it's pretty counter productive to getting into shape, and that burning in your lungs will never go away as long as you continue to do so. If have quit or will, the burn goes away too after awhile of conditioning your body. Good luck!Any advice for how to get started jogging???
well, im a runner and during the beginning of the season they KILL US. they make us start out really hard then get easier and easier. (or maybe we are just in shape?) idk. but i guess if your just like...trying to get in shape and not compete, start out small. lift weights...maybe go to a gym around you and ask them for their opinion on what you should do to work out? they will be able to see you physically and what kind of shape your in, and they will know a little something about your lungs
Start by putting one foot in front of the other and carry on from there
Start nice and easy and run for a little like down to starbucks or something. Then Start running farther and mabye try little hills. After you have become a pro at just runnin try to run at a incline like on a steep road.
try left - right, left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,left - right,
good start is to walk! make sure you can walk half an hour with no problem.

next step: add some jogging in. to begin, you can walk 4 minutes, jog 2 off and on for half an hour or so. Do NOT worry about your speed/pace--distance and time and quality are more important.

gradually jog more and walk less (i.e.: walk 3, jog 3; walk 2, jog 4 min; walk 1; jog 5; walk 1, jog 8...) , you get the idea.

Do it at your own pace--whatever you are comfortable with. Make sure you push your self a little more each week--but not too hard at first because you may just burn out and get discouraged. Keep a positive outlook, know what you're doing will keep you healthy and in shape!
1. Put on running shoes

2. Stretch

3. Go outside or get on treadmill

4. Start running
I recommend doing yoga to practice your breathing. Try to stretch everyday so you get ready for jogging and preventing injury. Dont eat too much before you run(You will feel your whole chest burning if you eat something unhealthy or just too much. ) For motivation, after you run, give yourself a check. If you have at least 4 checks, give yourself a treat--preferably new clothes.
Footprints towards the path of progress are not made sitting down.
start with walking and work up to jogging. I am 48 and about 1 1/2 yrs ago started walked and really trying to loose weight. I had trouble walking even 1/4 mi on my treadmill--pathetic, right? I worked up to walking --power type walking for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs with no problems at all now. I have recently started jogging and can now jog almost 1/2 mile without any difficulties. This isn't much but its a start. ANd i've lost 23 lbs and I look pretty good right now. All I need to do is loose some belly fat and I'll be great. I was a size 16, now I'm a size 10. YEAH!!
just walk at first until u get used to it. when u feel like ur fit enough start jogging slowly then go faster and for longer and further distances.
My field is in fashion, as a result many people ask me how they can slim down. My answer is always the same: good diet and exercise. But I found this great product which I think helps a lot in the process. I recommend you check this website

http://www.hesayyes.info , they have a free trial and you only pay 6.95$ shipping and handling. Good luck!
Before you start joggin, start going for brisk walks, andthen buld it gradually up to jogging slowly, another technique is to walk for 5 mins, then skip for 5 and then jog for 5, and keep repeating it, it will build you stamina up loads if you do it regulary x
it will hurt for a while because your not use to needing more oxygen while running. just practice everyday if you can. do 5 minet warmup jogs and strech and take time to breath and then do a long jog. what ever level you like to run. just keep pushing yourself. youll gewt use yo it and then it wont be hard to breath. the more days you run the longer you can extend your distance each time.
