Help is much appreciated :)How has the food industry responded to this advice...?
Sadly, I think that the major food producers have just paid lip-service to the above advice. Reading the ingredients listed on a lot of commercially-produced foods show a lot of unnecessary ingredients and chemicals (except that they trick the taste buds into a false sense of comfort and prolong shelf-life. Of course the reason that they produce these products is that a huge amount of people still buy them.
For example, after I got married, I had to teach my husband about quality, tasty, healthy foods. I proved to him that healthy foods, when prepared correctly, are not at all boring or tasteless, nor do they necessarily take a long time to cook. In fact, the garbage he was eating at the time tastes that way now.
Basically it's up to consumers to speak with their buying dollars, and make the producers listen. I've found that my shopping habits make me mostly what I jokingly call a ';perimeter shopper.'; That is, the fresh fruit and vegetables, meats and dairy products are on the perimeter of the store. Only rarely do I go up and down the aisles. I get in and out of the store much faster than a packaged-goods shopper.How has the food industry responded to this advice...?
There are tons of people who will not change the way they eat and will keep overindulging. The food industry counts on this.
